If you have invested a lot in your gaming desktop and the games you run on the desktop, you certainly want to protect the investment. If you are a gamer who invested in a custom PC, you have even more reason to protect the investment. 

When you buy a desktop or laptop today you can buy an extended service plan to cover most, if not all problems that may occur. And you may be happy to know that you don’t have to buy the plan on the day of the purchase.  

Most manufacturers and retailers allow the buyer an extended service plan on their gaming desktop within 30 to 60 days of the original purchase. It is something we recommend, since the expanded memory, upgraded graphics and other features all come at a price.  

If your game collection is extensive, you will also want to protect your games. A tricked out gaming desktop does you no good if your games are lost or damaged. Look into backing up your games onto disk or a video game backup web site.

Be sure you understand the copyright laws associated with the back-up of video games. And explore the particulars of backing up your favorite games. Some game manufacturers prevent back-up by encrypting some of the files so they do not get copied or they are non-functional when they are copied.  

If you play games online, you should also protect your gaming desktop by researching the game site. Be sure the site does not download software or files that might damage or destroy your expensive custom computer.  

When you total the investment for the gaming desktop and the video games, you have probably spent thousands of dollars to pursue your passion. With planning and common sense you can effectively protect that investment and play happily for years to come.
